As a girl, I devoured every fairy tale book I could come across in my small hamlet’s wonderful library. Over the course of months, then years, I read tales from the British Isles, Russia, China, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Americas. As an adult, I am learning that there are communities of fairy tale lovers I can connect with online. One of my favorite places to read both incisive essays on fairy tales as well as modern-day versions of fairy tales is the digital publication, Enchanted Conversation: A Fairy Tale Magazine.
I am delighted to say that the magazine’s editor, Kate Wolford, has chosen an essay of mine to run in this fascinating publication. The essay, titled “The Other (Better) Beast Story,” is about one of my favorite fairy tales, “The Wonderful Sheep,” and what it meant to my mother. I hope you enjoy it!
